The Women of Luke 8 Day 4
“Soon afterwards he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. The twelve were with him,”
Luke 8:1
I want to take a moment to turn to the twelve apostles in our Scripture. I think they model for us a vital component to the beginning of any journey with Christ. When we look at the apostles’ role at the beginning of their journey, they are learning from Jesus. They observe Jesus and learn the teachings of Christ to prepare themselves for when it is their turn to go out and spread the Gospel. They soak up the wisdom of Christ. They do not always understand Christ’s message, but they give up their known ways of life to learn and follow Him.
The apostles
prayed with Jesus. ate with Jesus. obeyed Jesus. traveled with Jesus. observed how Jesus treated others (including a man with leprosy and a sinful woman). talked with Jesus. listened to Jesus. sought wisdom from Jesus.
So let’s make it a point today to connect ourselves with Jesus. Turn on some worship music while you knock out that “to do” list. Take a walk and have a conversation with God as you go. Remember, a conversation involves speaking AND listening. Pour yourself a mug of something warm and cozy up to the Scriptures ready to soak it all in and warm your heart. Get ready to learn from the Savior as He prepares you for where you will be sent next.
