The Women of Luke 8 Day 1
“Soon afterwards he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. The twelve were with him, as well as some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them[a] out of their resources.”
Luke 8:1-3 (NRSV)
One day as I was reading through the gospel of Luke, I meandered into these verses from Luke 8. Verses I had passed by several times after bidding farewell to a forgiven sinful woman and on my way to learn all about the seeds of the sower. However, this time, these women halted me and captured my attention. Just three verses in the gospel of Luke. Yet, these verses are filled with so many significant people, and it seemed to me jammed pack full of so much information that I needed to learn and discover on my journey to be a follower of Christ. So at that moment I vowed to dive in. I craved more insight into these named and unnamed women. I longed to turn the stones that for me had been unturned and find more hidden nuggets of treasure of what it looks like to be a dedicated follower of Christ.
