Sourest Day

Sourest Day I love Sour Patch Kids. They are my FAVORITE candy. Sour and sweet. My husband and I joke quite often that we love Sour Patch Kids so much we even adopted one. Yes, like most children, our little girl can turn on the sour just as quickly as she can turn on the sweet! I feel like life can also be like a Sour Patch Kid. We can live the sweetest days and make the most lovely of memories to cherish, and then there are those days, those memories that we just want to forget. Days where we may even question if God really is with us always as Scripture claims the Lord to be.

Today, is actually a holiday called Sourest Day where you celebrate eating sour foods. It is not too often where the words sour and celebrate go together is it? However, as we strive to put our faith in God we are called to praise God through the good and the sour days. Below are some Scriptures you can sink your tastebuds into to provide encouragement for you on the sourest of days. Deuteronomy 31:8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. God walks ahead of you! Even in the sourest of days and moments, God is with you. Do not be discouraged. God is their to lift us up and help us keep going when we feel like we cannot take another step.

John 14:27 I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. When life gets sour and you are feeling overwhelmed, remember that real peace comes from God. So take a break from the world, be still, open up your heart to the voice of the Lord, and ask God to surround you with the Lord’s never-ending peace in the midst of the sourness going on.

John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. No matter what you are going through, remember, Jesus has conquered the world! In the end, you will be victorious. It may not be in the way you would expect, but remember, God is the ultimate conquerer. He is undefeated. With God you will be victorious, and you will get to the sweet despite the sour. Need another way to celebrate Sourest Day today? Help someone out who is in a sour stage in their life. Remind them of the promises of God that can get us all through the sour moments and remind us ’tis so sweet to trust in Jesus!
