The Women of Luke 8 Day 24
“Soon afterwards he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. The twelve were with him, as well as some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their resources.”
Luke 8:1-3
The disciples followed Jesus through cities and villages and every nook and cranny in between. In fact, Jesus gave one not so simple commandment, “Follow me.”
“As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea—for they were fishermen. And he said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you fish for people.’ Immediately they left their nets and followed him.“
Matthew 4:18-20
Jesus instructed not only to follow Him, but He also advised that His followers would use their abilities and talents to carry out the work of Christ. To the fishermen he says, “Follow me, and you will use your knowledge of fishing to fish for people.”
To you today Christ says, “Lay it all down, and just follow me. Trust in Me and My plan knowing that I provide every skill, resource, and talent you need to carry out My role for you in the work of My Kingdom.”
