Roots

My husband and daughter found this tree while walking through a park one day. I believe its roots are absolutely breathtaking, and as my eyes are captivated by it, I cannot help but wonder about my own roots. What are you rooted in? Do your roots run deep? Are you standing tall rooted in the love and will of the Lord? Do you plant yourself to listen to God's voice? Do you dig deep into the Scriptures enriching your entire being in God's Word? Are you clinging fast to the wisdom and love of the Lord? It is important to take a moment and think about what we are really rooted in? When we go through our daily lives, what is our foundation for decision making, attitude, actions, and desires?

This week, take time to do a check in. Where, who or what are you looking for nutrients. Where, who, or what are you clinging to for direction? Where, who, or what are you trusting? What are you rooted in when moments are hard, life is uncertain, and anxiety creeps into your limbs?

May you be rooted in the Lord. May you find ways to get nutrients from God in the days ahead and nourish these roots. May your roots in God be long, sturdy, solid, and breathtaking.

"Blessed are those who trust in the Lord,

whose trust is the Lord.

They shall be like a tree planted by water,

sending out its roots by the stream.

It shall not fear when heat comes,

and its leaves shall stay green;

in the year of drought it is not anxious,

and it does not cease to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:7-8
