Need A Lyft

This weekend I did something I have never done before. I used a ridesharing service. I know what you are thinking. Isn't this something we all started doing circa 2012? They answer is yes. Everyone except me. I was afraid of the lack of control.

However, when one of my favorite people in the world came down to visit me from DC and her rental got a flat, we decided our best way to meet friends downtown for dinner would be to take a Lyft.

For her, taking a Lyft was a natural method of transportation. While doing everyday life in DC, she has most likely taken a billion of them over the years. For me, it was a brand new experience. I was afraid. I did not like surrendering control to a complete stranger. I had no idea what might happen on my journey from home to one of my favorite downtown restaurants.

Sometimes we hit moments in life where we get a metaphorical flat tire. We may find ourselves stranded in a particular job, conflict, relationship, perspective, illness, financial struggle, emotion. However, we can take a leap of faith and call on God much like we would call on a Lyft to pick us up.

By taking a Lyft I was able to journey from point A to point B. When we put our full trust in God and allow Him to "lyft" us up and come alongside us, we experience an incredible journey filled with everything God has in store for us.

The challnge we face is just like the one I faced once I climbed into the Lyft, it is difficult to relinquish the control. It is challenging to trust in the driver of the wheel, in this case God. However, God is ready and waiting to take us on our journey to an incredible destination. We just need to trust and give God control of our lives.

When we rely on God to come alongside us, take us out of challenging situations where we find ourselves stuck and give us a Lyft, we are truly living into our faith.

"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."

(Hebrews 11:1).
