Let Me Tell You 'Bout My Jesus

Jesus is at work everywhere you go. You just have to look for it. You can truly see the Lord working in others and through others. This week, I saw Jesus working in the midst of a Delta airline flight cancellation. Let me show Him to you.

Jesus was working and moving in the midst of a group of four people. Two older women traveling together, one younger woman traveling alone, and one younger man traveling alone all came together as Jesus worked!

It started when a 1:46 pm flight from Atlanta to Richmond was cancelled twenty minutes before it was time to board the plane. Three other flights with destinations nearby on the east coast were cancelled at the same time. Many anxious, confused, and a few even angry passengers all lined up in the two to three hour wait customer service line to figure out how and when they would be getting to their final destinations.

As the two older ladies waited in line a miraculous thing happened. They each got tickets for a flight out on that very day! This was extremely exciting and rare. The majority of people were receiving flights that would land 24 to 48 hours later. They would definitely be spending a lot of time in the Atlanta airport. However, the two older ladies did not have to relive the movie The Terminal. However, there was one snag. One of the women got a ticket on the 8:52 p.m. flight and the other got a ticket on the 10:11 p.m. flight. When the ladies received their tickets they had to decide which one would go on which flight. One of the ladies, Carolyn, was having a really difficult day, so her friend let her take the earlier flight.

Do you see Jesus working and moving? All passengers were put on a loooooong list of stand by seats for every flight leaving to go to Richmond following the one that got cancelled. There were four other Delta flights that day heading to Richmond after the 1:46 p.m. flight was cancelled. The flights were scheduled at 3:15 p.m., 6:05 p.m., 8:52 p.m., and 10:11 p.m. As the ladies waited at the gate for the 3:15 p.m. flight to see if they would be called to head back to Richmond earlier with their standby status they met and began chatting with two other passengers from the 1:46 p.m.cancelled flight. The first person they chatted with was a young man who was married but flying alone. He lived in the same area as the two older women, and he had a ticket for the 10:11 p.m. flight. The other, was a young girl flying by herself. She did not have a ticket to head back to Richmond until the next day! While they were all sitting around talking, the two older women realized they had a dilemma. Only one of them, Carolyn, had driven to the airport. Since they were taking different flights, the other older lady would not have a way to get home from the airport once she landed unless Carolyn waited two hours in the airport for her to get there. The young gentleman who they met who lived in the same area as them volunteered to drive the lady home. Not only did she live right near him, but then Carolyn could go ahead and head home once she landed from her earlier flight. Do you see Jesus working and moving? As passengers boarded the 8:52 p.m. flight Carolyn said goodbye to her friend she traveled with, and she also said goodbye to the young woman and the young man. All three of them waited for the third time that day to see if they were going to be able to claim an empty seat on the plane while Carolyn boarded. She did not have to wait to find out the answer for very long. soon after she had buckled her safety belt and made sure her seat and tray table were in the upright position all three of her friends boarded the plane. The young woman practically in tears over how excited she was to be on this flight instead of spending a long night in the airport. Do you see Jesus working and moving? As all four of the new friends waited in baggage claim, the older woman Carolyn was traveling with pointed to her suitcase coming around on the conveyor belt. The young woman who she had befriended in the airport earlier in the day stepped up and grabbed the older woman's suitcase off the belt for her. She handed it over and exclaimed to the woman, "I could not have made it through this day without you!"
