Breaking Through

I do NOT have a green thumb. I do love plants, so you can imagine my confliction when approximately nine years ago a dear mentor offered to give me a plant in a pink pot. "Oh, it is a lovely plant" I stated. "However, I will never be able to keep it alive!" The dear mentor informed me that this plant was impossible to kill. She was right. Nine years later this plant is still growing strong. Confession, I have DEFINITELY gone over a month without even giving it a sip of water. I have scorched it in the sun, and yet it still grows. The plant keeps going. Recently I relocated this miraculous plant from the office that once belonged to me to my home. I noticed on the two minute car ride a crack in the pink pot. When I went to set it up on the top of the wooden hutch that sits in our kitchen, the plant pushed its way out of the pink pot, and the pot crumbled. I was mortified. I had been so careful to preserve it in the relocation process!! I wondered if this moment was the end of my precious plant. However, my husband put it in a new pot.

Now the plant sits in its new pot, a bigger pot, and in recent days I have watched it thrive. I attribute the extra space it has in the plants new pot to this growth. However, I also must confess my husband is a much better caretaker of plants than I am. I guarantee you he probably even talks to them when no one is around.

There are moments in our lives where we ourselves need to break through into a new space, experience, or life stage. What do you need to break out of? Is it a bad habit holding you back from your full potential and purpose? Is it fear keeping you from saying yes to something amazing God has offered you? Is it time to do something new and different with your days? Whatever it is that God has for you to do, to overcome, to experience, to thrive at, to adventure towards break through the barriers you find preventing you from saying, "Yes Lord!" As you break through the barriers that are holding you back, chances are you will find that when living in the will of the Lord you will thrive!

you whom I took from the ends of the earth,

and called from its farthest corners,

saying to you, “You are my servant,

I have chosen you and not cast you off”;

10 do not fear, for I am with you,

do not be afraid, for I am your God;

I will strengthen you, I will help you,

I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. ~Isaiah 41:9-10
